About Abacus
Our History
- 1970 - Business started as a local firm of chartered accountants called Breadner Moorhouse.
- 1980s - The local firm became part of Coopers & Lybrand in the mid 80’s.
- 1996 - Abacus was formed so as to distinguish the fiduciary services business from the audit and accounting functions performed by Coopers & Lybrand.
- 1998 - The shareholders of Abacus decided not to participate in the Coopers & Lybrand / Price Waterhouse merger and became independent.
- 2004 - Joined Nexia International, a worldwide network of independent accounting and consulting firms in 96 countries.
- 2007 - Abacus formed a strategic alliance with Merrill Lynch in order to assist in structuring of non financial assets for Merrill Lynch clients.
- 2007 - Abacus won the Organisation of the Year Award in the Isle of Man Awards for Excellence.
- 2008 - Abacus Trust (Suisse) SA was established and received the necessary licensing to commence work from a newly established Swiss office in Geneva.
