Abacus Trust Company Limited ("ATCL") and Abacus Financial Services Limited ("AFSL") are both registered as data controllers under the Data Protection Act 2002. Both companies are committed to applying the eight data protection principles which underlie the Act. These include the fair and lawful obtaining of personal data, the use of personal data only for specified purposes, and the secure storage of personal data.

When as a visitor to this website you choose to send 'ATCL' or 'AFSL' an email, you provide the company with an item of personal data. 'ATCL' and 'AFSL' both undertake to use this data only for the purposes registered by it under the Act, including investment/account administration, general office administration and marketing and selling.

If you apply for products and services with 'ATCL' or 'AFSL', you will be given the opportunity on the application form to opt not to receive promotional items about our products and services. If you decide that you do wish to receive promotional materials, you will not receive material that is unrelated to financial services, as a result of applying for products and services with 'ATCL' or 'AFSL'. Nor will we disclose any information about you to any organisation which is outside the scope of our data protection registration.

In the event that you are concerned about the personal data, which 'ATCL' or 'AFSL' holds about you, you have the right to request a copy of that data and to have it corrected if it is inaccurate. To request a copy of your personal data you will need to write to the Data Protection Officer at 'ATCL' or 'AFSL'. A fee is payable.

When you send us an email, the data which constitutes that email will be passed over the internet and will be processed by computer servers which are outside the control 'ATCL'/'AFSL'. We therefore cannot guarantee the privacy of any email that you send to us.
